Dr Rachel Climie
Postdoctoral Researcher - Menzies Institute for Medical Research
"By supporting our younger scientists, we can create a more sustainable and supportive STEMM sector."
Rachel is a Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow and clinical Exercise Physiologist at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research in Tasmania. She recently returned to the Menzies, where she completed her PhD in 2016, after two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Paris Research Center Cardiovasculaire, and some time at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Rachel’s research focuses on the ageing of the blood vessels (vascular ageing), the consequences of early vascular ageing (such as in patients with diabetes or cancer) and how exercise can prevent or delay this. She is passionate about mentoring students and early career researchers, and loves ocean swimming - diving into the waves rain, hail or shine most weeks.
